Toxic communication is intentionally harmful and interferes with objective discourse. Beyond hate speech, it includes other offensive forms of communication, such as statements that expose, pressure, or demonstrate power over others. Toxic communication can be found on social media platforms, in professional and personal life, in media coverage, in video games, in fan chants, and in music production. In online contexts, it can even be facilitated by technological design.
